Presentation

From 17 to 19 September 2024, sheep transhumance in the Ouzom Valley.
The flock of sheep leaves the high mountain to go to the Cirque de Granquet.
You share during these 3 days the life of Jean Pierre, shepherd mountain guide. You are an actor during this transhumance: you lead the herds on the mountain paths or on the road, you assist Jean Pierre during the laying of the bells.
Every day, hikes of 5-6 h and gradients of 500 - 600 m.
The days are embellished with discussions: work of the accompanying shepherd, pastoral life in the Béarn valleys...

Organization

Day 1 : meet at 9 am at the Col du Soulor. Transhumance sheep to autumn summer.
At the end of the day, transfer by car to the plateau du Bénou.Soirée at the barn.
Day 2 : Meeting of the herd of cows on the Ossalois mountain pastures.
Party at the barn.
Day 3 : Walk on the Bénou plateau. Lunch at the barn.
End of stay around 3 pm
