Arudy, Cradle of prehistory
The first people in the valley lived in these caves and left traces of their passage (paintings, objects, art...).
The village was also an important marble quarrying centre. Several quarries are still active in the commune.
The Musée d'Ossau houses collections on archaeology, prehistory, ethnography and geology, as well as an exhibition on the Pyrenees National Park and Ossau marble.
Don't miss The pretty old houses with their inscriptions and architectural decorations can be discovered on the "Stones" heritage trail.
