A village with a rich medieval history

Castet is a charming village whose name derives from the fortified castle built in the 12th century. All that remains of this ancient fortress today is the keep, a quiet reminder of its medieval past.
Nearby, the Romanesque Saint-Polycarpe Church catches the eye. Listed as a historic monument and carefully restored, it is distinguished by its semi-circular apse, its vaulted nave, and its listed altar and altarpieces. Its octagonal bell tower, resting on a square base, completes this remarkable architectural ensemble.

An exceptional natural viewpoint

Its buildings are perched on a glacial outcrop, forming a true natural viewpoint.
From here, a sweeping panorama overlooking the Gave river and Lake Castet unfolds before us.

Lake Castet is a special natural area, ideal for walking and relaxation.
Easily accessible from the left bank, via the Ayguelade district in Bielle, this site also offers a range of activities and events (during the school holidays).

Port de Castet, where nature meets pastoral life

Above the village lies the Port of Castet, at an altitude of 868 metres.
This vast pastoral plateau, mirroring that of the Bénou opposite, offers a peaceful, open setting, ideal for outdoor activities. Hiking and mountain biking trails start here, and in summer, guided donkey treks add to the enjoyment of your outings.
