Sainte-Colome

Presentation

Sainte-Colome, at the crossroads of the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela
The village boasts some fine 16th-century rural houses, decorated with carvings and typical of rural Ossalon architecture.
A walk through the village reveals the ruins of a 13th-century castle or "Maison Forte".
Also of note is the beautiful 16th-century church of Saint Sylvestre (listed as a Historic Monument).
Sainte-Colome is situated on the Camino de Santiago en Ossau, marking the split between the Route du Piémont (GR78) and the Route d'Ossau (GR108).
Pilgrims follow the Piedmont route along the "Cami dou Seignou ... Le Chemin du Seigneur".
From the site of the three crosses on the north side, near the motte féodale, there is a beautiful viewpoint over the village, the foothills and the Rey massif.
