Farm Stay
Presentation
This weekend, bring the children to the farm and discover pastoral life on an Ossaloise farm with your family.
You will enjoy an unusual experience with Régis the shepherd. He raises Basque-Béarnaise sheep on a small-scale farm.
Your weekend will be punctuated by farm chores (feeding the lambs, milking by hand, caring for the sheep, making cheese, etc.), but that won't stop you from skiing, snowshoeing or hiking during your stay, if you wish.
This is a unique tourist experience, immersing you in the daily life of a farm in Laruns in the Ossau Valley, which will also allow you to enjoy, after a few months of maturing,
the sheep's cheese that you made with him.
You will stay in a comfortable flat in the centre of the village, in an Ossaloise house.
Arrive late in the day at your accommodation and settle in.
Régis has prepared a basket for you to cook as you wish, and will brief you on the organization of the weekend.
Day 2
You will assist with milking the sheep and help him care for the animals: feeding the lambs, caring for the ewe lambs, and making cheese.
If conditions allow, the sheep will be taken out to graze in the meadows near the farm. During this time, you will assist the shepherd with preparing the straw bedding and making the evening meal for the flock.
Lunch is not included.
At the end of the afternoon, if you feel like it, you can join Régis at the sheepfold to ‘take care’ of the flock!
Dinner at your leisure.
Day 3
After breakfast, provided by Régis, you join him to share another moment in the life of a shepherd...
