Louvie-Soubiron, from one valley to another

A hilltop village with stunning views

Built on the mountainside, the village of Louvie-Soubiron offers stunning views over the valley.
As you follow the path leading to the hamlet of Listo, situated 882 metres above sea level to the east, the landscape unfolds in all its grandeur.

A heritage linked to marble

Louvie-Soubiron was once renowned for its pure white marble, exported for the construction of certain monuments in Paris. Traces of it can still be seen on the façades of many houses and churches in the Ossau region.
A walking and heritage trail, known as the ‘quarry trail’, is dedicated to this heritage.

A territory between two valleys

This particularly extensive municipal area is unique in that it spans two valleys: those of Ossau and Ouzom (on the border with the Hautes-Pyrénées department).
The Eschartès district forms part of this area and offers a heritage trail dedicated to the Baburet mines, starting from Ferrières.
