Dog sledding in Gourette: an unforgettable adventure in the heart of the Pyrenees
At the foot of the Col d'Aubisque, nestled in the heart of the Cirque de Gourette, Tracés Sauvages offers you an introduction to dog sledding with its Nordic dogs along the trails of the Plateau de Bézou.
Whether by kart or sled, you will enjoy a unique experience in the Pyrenees, pulled by a team of 10 to 13 dogs through breathtaking landscapes.
Throughout your trip, you will be accompanied by enthusiastic dogs, perfectly trained by Estelle, who will guide you through the snow-covered forests of the Gourette resort.
An experience accessible to young and old alike
Whether you are an adventurer or a family looking for magical moments to share, dog sledding is an experience accessible to all.
Young and old alike will meet their companions for the ride to share a unique moment and discover the mountains in a different way.
You will meet Zouk, the corporal, sweet Plinn, shy Krump and many other four-legged companions who will be there to share this magical moment with you.
The musher, Estelle, will share with you her love for this activity and her companions, who are incredibly strong, agile and full of energy, but who also have a real bond with her.
So, are you ready?
Put on your gloves and hats and let yourself be carried away by the magic of dog sledding!
Practical information
Where does the activity take place?
The activity takes place on the Bézou Plateau in the heart of the Gourette ski resort, in the Ossau Valley, in the Pyrenees.
How do I get to the activity?
To access the activity, you must take the Bézou cable car and have a pedestrian pass to board!
Without a pass, you will not be able to access the cable car.
When you exit the Bézou cable car, you will arrive at the Plateau de Bézou. From there, head directly to the doghouses (below the Le Cairn mountain restaurant) where Estelle will welcome you.
Where can you get a pedestrian pass?
- If you have a ski pass: it is already included.
- If you have booked your outing with the Tourist Office, go to our office in Gourette to collect your pass (before your trip up the mountain).
This is included in the price of the service.
How to book?
- On this page, scroll down to the bottom of the page to ‘We also suggest’ to find all the dog sledding offers.
If bookings are not open, send a request by email to info@valleedossau or by telephone on +33 (0)5 59 05 31 41.
- On site, directly at all our Tourist Offices.
What happens if there is not enough snow?
If there is not enough snow, the ‘100% Grand Attelage’ trips will take place in a kart instead of a sleigh.
The ‘100% sleigh’ offer will be cancelled.
How many people can ride in a sleigh?
The sleighs can accommodate up to 4 people.
Please note: the maximum total weight is limited to 180kg (depending on the sleigh).
Please note! The activity is strongly discouraged for pregnant women due to the jolting.
What are the differences between the available options?
The ‘100% Grand Attelage’ options offer two choices (which can be done in a kart if there is no snow for sledding):
- 30 minutes, with a 2-person sled (max. 160 kg)
- 15 minutes, with a 4-person sled (max. 180 kg)
The ‘100% Sleigh Ride’ option (30 minutes) will be CANCELLED if there is insufficient snow.
